2018 ANNUAL MEETING

The VAFCC held its annual meeting on a beautiful Sunday in Boston, 22 April 2018, with 62 members and guests in attendance. Among the guests were 10 ancestors of John Hancock, who served as commander of the Independent Company of Cadets in 1772. The family presented the Museum with a walking stick fabricated from timber in Hancock’s home. The family and other guests enjoyed a tour and then dinner with the membership. Cocktails and dinner began at 1500 hours and the meeting followed at approximately 1600 hours with President DiNardo in the chair. The membership read and approved the minutes of the semi-annual meeting of 22 October 2017 and reports were delivered following the Secretary’s agenda. Links to the reports are included below.

The Secretary then presented Larry DiNardo with the traditional silver pitcher from Shreve, Crump, and Low for his successful term in office, which was highlighted by a substantial increase in the endowment due to the Craig Brown bequest and by the addition of new sources of rental revenue. New president Gus Niewenhous then received the silver gorget as an accoutrement of office, made concluding comments, and adjourned the meeting.
