Professor Arthur N. Burt

Arthur N. Burt, father, athlete, teacher, and coach died November 27, 2019, surrounded by his wife Janet, (Connelly), son Nathan, and daughter Jessica. Arthur was a former teacher and coach in the Hamilton-Wenham system, a counselor for the Juvenile Diversion Program, a former professor at Salem State University, and current professor of Social Sciences and Liberal Arts at North Shore Community College and Endicott College. Primarily, Arthur was an historian who contributed much to the VAFCC as a member of the Board of Directors, knowledgeable docent of the museum’s collection, and perhaps of most importance, founder and manager of the VAFCC Golf Tournament for fifteen years. The proceeds of the Tournament benefit the Family Fund of the 211th MP Battalion when unit members are deployed. Arthur set up and hosted this wonderful annual event at the Far Corners Golf Club of Boxboro that brings together soldiers, VAFCC members, and friends for a delightful day of “best-ball” golf, superb cookout, and a raffle of delights and surprises, some of the most impressive raised by Arthur’s initiative.
